MP SolarFlair NPC is a Mpumalanga-based, not-for-profit organisation bringing together local businesses, engineers, students, volunteers and community members around an exciting goal: to design, build and race a solar-powered vehicle in the 2026 Sasol Solar Challenge..

Competing under the broader Team Mpumalanga banner, MP SolarFlair has developed a locally built solar car and a community-driven programme that extends far beyond racing. The project provides a practical platform for engineering, renewable energy, innovation, skills development and community involvement, while inspiring young South Africans through science and technology.

About the Sasol Solar Challenge

The Sasol Solar Challenge is an international solar vehicle endurance event that brings together leading South African and international engineering teams to compete on public roads across South Africa. It showcases cutting-edge renewable energy, engineering and automotive technology and attracts significant public, social media and media exposure along its route.

We Need Your Support

With scrutineering for the 2026 Sasol Solar Challenge now only around two weeks away (3 September 2026), we are working hard to close the final gaps in our budget and get MP SolarFlair to the start line.

A significant amount has already been achieved through the generosity of our sponsors, supporters and team members. However, we still have essential costs that need to be covered, including:
• Fuel and transport costs for our support convoy
• Team food and catering
• Event entry and participation costs
• Team clothing
• General logistics and operational expenses

At this stage, financial sponsorship of any amount is one the most valuable ways helping us. Contributions do not need to fund a specific item - every contribution helps close the remaining budget gap and gets MP SolarFlair one step closer to competing.
